Images differ from words in their sensual complexity. Words, on the other hand, especially in a rational, enlightened society, have a tendency to capture the consciousness. In a tense relationship to each other, the image is often at risk of being appropriated by mental concepts. However, the quality of images can be defined precisely in their resistance to linguistic attempts at appropriation. In the large-format works, words stand out in the picture in such a way that they stand in the way of a clear rational understanding. Words become elements on the surface of the picture that interrupt and influence the sensual visual process of perception on a mental level, creating a game between what is seen and what is thought. A gap opens up in this precarious relationship, so that the eye and the mind have to fathom out their relationship between each other.
